Well, it's 2021, believe it or not!
An explanation on why I haven't been publishing posts these past two weeks.
My Thanksgiving break was spent catching up on typing blog posts, and while I've sat down multiple times throughout my Winter break so far in an attempt to write about the recipes I've been making, it just hasn't clicked.
I've got a good amount of cooking endeavors to update you on, but I've learned that there is no need to be stressed about it, and let it consume me. Rather, live in the present moment, and enjoy the writing process. Everything is a process. Moderation, people.
That said, I'm excited to share what I've been up to in the kitchen this past week so keep your eyes peeled for posts coming.
I've decided that after posting a four week old recipe, I'll be working backwards from most recent to least recent. This will help with immediacy of my memory. Because of this, I'll be titling the posts differently than I have been doing. I'll still be including the "recipes down" and "days to go", but at the end of the post. The "days to go" will be based on the day the post is published.
Alright, enough about logistics.
New Years Eve I spent reading, hitting (softballs), biking with a friend, listening to music while taking a shower (ariana grande's newest album) and busting out some dance moves :), and watching a funny movie with my family.
I think this sums up a little bit of everything there's space for this year: learning, down-time, enjoyable activities, movement, time with friends, good music, silliness, creativity, laughter, time with family. And one additional thing on my list: delicious food. Of course!
I hope everyone carries over what is important to them into this new year and dedicates the time and space to do some more of it.
My word of the year is positivity. The one most salient thing I've taken away from this in many ways maddening, trying, depressing year, is the power of a positive mindset. Optimism, and finding those silver linings amongst whatever is happening, brings hope and joy to build the foundation of a better world where there's understanding, inclusion, and love.
I can do it. It can be done. Life can be improved. Obstacles can be overcome. The world can be bettered. In case you didn't know, the mind is powerful, people.
Case in point: If you tell yourself you are bad, you will end up feeling pretty gosh darn bad about yourself... which might just lead to quitting on yourself... because your mind will engulf you in the idea of your badness... so why not just give up?
See what I mean?
Whatever it is that you want to accomplish, it all starts with a positive mindset. So bring some positivity with you wherever you go, whatever you do, starting from the moment you wake up in the morning, and use and spread it generously this new year. That at least, is my resolution.
Wishing a happy and healthy new year to all reading this! (hello my two grandmas, grandpa, friends, fellow teenagers and cooking/food/eating enthusiasts)
